In this video Joanna Simon meets one of the biggest fan and specialist of Alsace wines, Thierry Fritsch, to explore how fabulously food-friendly Alsace wines are.

Thierry travels the world teaching people about the wide ranging styles - from bone dry to lusciously sweet - of wines produced in the Alsace, and demonstrating how they match a huge variety of cuisines. Here, at restaurant "La Taverne Alsacienne", Thierry introduces Joanna to an elegant, fresh and citrusy Alsace Riesling which he matches with a smoked salmon starter; a rich, complex Pinot Gris d'Alsace which perfectly complements a veal main course; and a concentrated, honeyed Gewurztraminer Sélection de Grains Nobles which he pairs with a strawberry dessert.
